Working for a PR Agency has its perks. For one, I have opportunities to rub elbows with high-level executives in various companies. I am impressed with these individuals’ abilities to strategize and get to the heart of an issue instantly. I can definitely see that the C-Suite is a long ways off in my career path.

What I don’t appreciate however is foul language. I think sordid vocabulary has become too prevalent in our society. It is amazing to me that Webster’s Dictionary keeps growing and yet listening to people talk these days would have me believe Webster’s should clean out words that are dated before 1995!

I especially don’t think that foul language is appropriate at executive meetings. These are intelligent people, brilliant in some cases, why not talk like it? I don’t want this to sound like every executive I’ve met with uses foul language, but I don’t think that my experience is unique. I expect language like that in the football locker room, but not in the C-Suite.

My Two Cents: Raise the bar; act and talk like the intelligent people you are. Leave the filthy language and guttertalk where it belongs–in the trash!
